Iran’s 13th admin. pursues pragmatic, inclusive foreign policy

Tehran, IRNA – The 13th administration of the Islamic Republic of Iran has stepped up enhancing political and economic ties with not only regional partners but also Latin American and Caribbean states based on a pragmatic and inclusive foreign policy.

Ebrahim Raisi has outlined his new government since his inauguration day as Iran’s president, stressing that the Islamic Republic considers neighboring states as its own relatives and that it prioritizes expansion of relations with the neighbors.
Since that time, Iranian diplomats have made all-out efforts to repair relationships with neighboring countries, because the reparation of ties is so important that President Raisi emphasized on the strengthening of relations with neighbors such as Iraq even in his provincial trips.
In his visit to Ilam province, Raisi pointed out to cultural and spiritual commonalities between Iraqis and Iranians, noted that having 430 kilometers of joint border line is not a threat, but it should be seen as an opportunity to expand connections and trade ties.
The 13th administration in Iran plays key role in regional summits, including a recent regional conference on Iraq. Nine representatives from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Turkey, France and Iran participated in the summit.
The Raisi administration has been successful in overcoming obstacles in the way of turning into a full member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
Experts opine that Iran’s permanent membership in the SCO will provide the Islamic country with broad cooperation with other members in political, economic, security, energy, financial and cultural arenas.
Tehran is of the opinion that its relationship with Europe should be based on Brussel’s independence from Washington.
President Raisi had a phone call with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron nearly one month ago. The two sides emphasized on expansion of bilateral ties particularly in economic and trade fields.
The Raisi administration also has a positive attitude towards Latin American and Caribbean countries. Leaders of Venezuela, Cuba and Nicaragua felicitated new Iranian president’s victory in election, calling for expansion of mutual relations.
Improvement of ties between Iran and countries in American continent has caused concern among the US officials.
